Cards

Challenged

Today I made another card especially for a challenge in mind. I now understand why its called a “challenge” as it challenges you to do something new even if the theme is quite ordinary!

The first card was for Match the Sketch sketch 117and this is also my first challenge for a German team of bloggers/designers, one of whom lives only 180km from me!  The layout seemed simple enough but those who know me, know I don’t like doing “simple”! So I ended up doing this!

swirls&pearls

Looks simple but it wasn’t, only because I didn’t know what I wanted the end result to be until I was in the middle of it!

I first cut out Happy Birthday on the card using “lawn cuts” Happy Birthday Border die. Behind the cut out text, I pasted a double sided fancy Easter paper I got from Tchibo.

I cut out Happy Birthday again on some paper a friend left behind, and I pasted it below the cut out happy birthday.

Only then did I think of adding the flower scallop cut with Sizixx’s scallop circle, from a lino tablecloth I bought at a craft fair! So I had to cut out “to you” on the lino and line it up with the cut text. Next time I’ll paste the scallop first and cut everything together!

I added the pearl drops with pearl pens and added the butterfly that comes with Spellbinders Heart & Flutter die set. Then I stamped it using this baby wipes method from Splitcoaststampers to create a a multi coloured image. I didn’t have any bottle ink so I just stamped directly onto the baby wipe!

I loved the end result and I decided to enter it into another challenge for

Sweet Stampin Challenge called Swirls and Pearls. SSChallenge-1

and Addicted to CAS Delicate challenge ATCAS - code word delicate

I also know exactly who to give this card to for her next birthday, so I really enjoyed this challenge!
