After churning out cards for a fortnight, I was suddenly faced with a creative block. Nothing I did came out the way I wanted it to and I was getting more and more frustrated! Then I came upon Addicted to CAS new challenge called “Inlaid Dies” and as I didn’t know what it meant I looked it up and came upon a new method of adding cut images to my cards and that was what I needed to start the creative juices flowing again! This tutorial from Splitcoaststampers is a great example to learn from. Obviously I started out trying to make a card with an intricate die cut and spent over 2h putting it together again…and not liking the result at all! I finally settled for an easier die cut and here is the result!
I first cut the tulip directly from the card, painted it and glued it back into the shape. I then inked and embossed the green tulip using a stencil I made by cutting the same tulip die cut on another piece of paper. The Tulip Bunch die cut is from Poppystamps and the Happy Birthday die cut is from Lawn cuts. The tulip colour was inspired by these tulips I saw in a flower shop and which are now sitting on my table! Aren’t they simply gorgeous!!
