Absence makes the heart grow fonder

(Or out of sight out of mind…?)

Many of our husbands travel frequently for their job, some even live in another city and come home only on weekends. We get used to it and adjust our lives accordingly and have a close knit of friends we can count on if needed. There are a few, though, who have their hearts break each time their husbands leave, and this card is for them.

miss you

When the theme from this week’s challenge at CASology was “Tear”, I immediately thought of a heart torn in two. But after reading Shona‘s post of how she always consulted the dictionary to get more meanings of the word (I love how she interprets the themes, she has a wicked sense of humour!),   I did the same and the first definition was: “tear –a drop of the saline, watery fluid continually secreted by the lacrimal glands between the surface of the eye and the eyelid…”

That definition did not even come to my mind, and it should have, as my eyes have been tearing more often since I started wearing contact lenses two days ago! Anyway, that is why I added the tears with my Tombow marker, to show a crying heart. I wanted to add sentiments like “I’m blue without you” or “life is grey when you’re not around”, but I decided “miss you” from The Ton stamps was just enough to express everything.

To colour the heart, I die cut a heart using my Doc craft heart Xcut dies and tore it in two. I used the negative part of the heart die cut along with one part of the torn heart and masked the card stock,  I then sponged in Momento’s London’s fog. I cut the white card with My Favourite Things Blueprints 20 stitched rectangle and Simon Says Stamp stitched rectangle for the kraft card stock.
