Magic Powders

Today I tried my hand at two new methods! Mixed Media, and using my newly received Perfect Pearls…and I had so much fun! I was never really a fan of mixed media as I found it a little too vintage for my taste. But then I saw the creations of Susanne Rose, a designer at the Artplorations blog, which are all so beautiful and vibrant, and I thought “That I like, I want to try it!”

1st mix media

I started with stamping the sentiment and guitar from Technique Junkies, by colouring my stamp with a few different distress ink pads. I then stamped the music chords in Momento Tuxedo black. I spritz my card with water, added Brushos powder, spritz again and watch the magic happen! I used the Bubble Danse stencil from ARTplorations and used gold acrylic paste to create the circles. I added the little squares from Dutch Doobado stencil with distress paint. I cut the rectangle using Spellbinders die and mounted it on a black card stock.

1st mix media

I really love how my first mixed media attempt turned out, but there were also many “I should have done that first!” moments during the process, so I’m definitely going to try another one soon!

The next card is really a very simple one but with the use of my other magic powders, Perfect Pearls, they shine on their own! I saw them being used over at Jennifer Mcguire’s and I had to get them!

I stamped the sentiment from Deep Red and heat embossed. This serves as a resist against the Perfect Pearls powders which I just brushed on using a wet brush. I haven’t tried them yet on light coloured paper but they are amazing on black card stock!

Look how they shine! This will be my hubby’s birthday card, who celebrates his birthday next Monday! His love and support gives me strength and courage to be myself and try new things each day and I am lucky to have someone like him.
