Christmas Poinsettias

This card is the result of many mistakes due to ignorance and impatience. Yet I think it came out nicer than I had planned! Proving once again that sometimes, good things can come out of our mistakes, if we persevere.

I had just received this Poinsettia stamp from Stamplorations, and stamped it twice with my Misti, in Versmark ink, before adding gold WoW embossing powder and heat embossing it. I coloured it in with red Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and blended with my water brush. I then accentuated the veins with a brown Zig brush and went over it again with the red Zig brush.

See how shiny the poinsettias are. I added some washi tapes to the top and bottom of the card. Now here was when everything started to go wrong. I flipped the panel around to add adhesive tapes so I could stick it onto my red card. When I flipped it back again, to my horror the card was smudged with the red ink from the poinsettias! I don’t know how it happened but it was due to the fact that the inks were not properly dried yet. So I used my Versamark pen and created swirls on the card, like wind, and sprinkled red Wow Embossing powder on it and heat embossing it.

To finish, I die cut the Celebrate die from Tim Holtz’s Celebration words die set, twice, once on black card stock and once from a thank you postcard Shery Russ from Stamplorations sends me with my orders, that I keep as scrap to provide backing to any die cuts I want raised. In the end, I preferred her shiny postcard die cut better so I used it as the upper layer! Never throw anything out!celebrate poinsettia cu.jpg

Hope you liked it! Tomorrow I think I’ll make the original one I had planned and see which one I prefer!

  1. How lucky, my errors are never retrievable and always end up in the bin. Great job of rescuing this love card.
Thank you for joining our ‘lets make a start on Christmas’ challenge this week at Allsorts.
