Is it because I am a mum to a geek and I’m married to an engineer that I think being a geek is actually cool and that geeks do/will rule the world? I really do hope so as the geeks I know are kind, obviously very intelligent because they are curious and constantly analysing and trying to improve things, and also quite humorous! My first encounter with a geek was actually my own younger brother and he is exactly that kind of person. I am also constantly surprised at the things my 13 year old son tells me and I can honestly say that I learn one new thing from him every day. Obviously it hurts when I know kids make fun of him at school and they call him weird, but I didn’t exactly feel like the most popular girl in school either, and I wasn’t a geek! I was just a young teenage girl.
So when I saw the challenge for “The Male Room” was Science, I immediately started making this card even if it was already 22h30 on a school night! This is for my son’s friend for his birthday next week.
I stamped the sentiment from Technique Junkies with Versamark and heat embossed the red Wow embossing powder I had sprinkled on. The Shirt stamp comes from Inkadinkado and was first stamped with Momento’s black ink and heat embossed with Wow’s clear sparkling powder so the shirt would dazzle! You can’t really see it but it does sparkle in the light. I added the black and white striped washi tape to the top and bottom before cutting it with my stitched die from Sue Wilson.
Heres proof that geek is the new sexy! I especially love the pic of my son in the leather jacket. He was only 9 when that photo was taken, but for me its like getting a glimpse into the future and seeing my son when he’ll be a man.
