Marbling

I went on a marbling high last night…I mean it literally, as I was playing around with making marble paper with nail polish! I had loads of fun but had to open the windows after a while!! Today’s post will highlight a card I made marbling with shaving foam though. This is not my usual style and I don’t think I’ve ever made a card with geometric shapes. But after seeing so may “geometric meets vintage” trends at the Creative World fair in Frankfurt on Monday, I was  inspired to try it too!

The flower & leaves die cuts from Altenew’s Peony bouquet set were cut from a marbled panel I had made by mixing alcohol inks and shaving foam. Heres the method. I find that using photo paper of 300g gives quite a good effect.

I especially marbled the inks so that it would look good on flower dies and I love the result!

The geometric broad black die cut comes from a free digital cut file from Winnie & Walter which I cut with my Silhouette portrait machine. I love how they provide cut files in their shop so I can have new die cuts straight away! I added pearl coloured Magic Pearls onto the white portion of the card and also on the stacked sentiment from Casual Fridays, which I cut from red card stock. The round geometric shape and sequins were sent to me by the generous Maria from Rieslingmama, when I said I didn’t have anything from W&W! Thanks again Maria!

Before I end this post, here are the panels I made during my nail polish marbling night. I really love how they turned out.

And a sneak peak to what I’m going to do with them with my new Altenew jellyfish dies.

Aren’t they gorgeous!! I just love them! BTW heres the tutorial I followed to do the nail polish marbling. I also used their free app “A Color Story” to bring out the colours from my marbling panel, its an amazing app!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you liked it!

I’m entering this card in:

Winnie & Walter’s The Gossip Column marbling challenge. There are some amazing marbling cards over there!
