Addicted to Stamps & More – Frohe Pfingsten!

addicted to stamps

Hi all, I’m back for the first of 2 posts today, you’re all so lucky aren’t you… :), and I’m starting with a watercolour card for the challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More, and the theme is “Holiday”.  There will be a video at the end of the post to show how I water-coloured this card, using only distress inks!

(If you noticed that “desperate” is spelt incorrectly on my name chain, Bravo! This was given to me by the organisers of  a craft fair in Munich so I wasn’t complaining!)

I made the above card for my German neighbour to wish her a Happy Pentecost (Whit Sunday/Monday) as its a public Holiday here. And as Peonies in German are also called “Pfingrosen”, I chose a peony to put on her card.

The techniques I used on this card were learnt during a course called “Irresistible Inking Techniques” at the Altenew Academy, as part of my Altenew Educator Certification Program. I’m really learning a lot and so happy to be part of this program! The first technique is called Stamp Block inking, which I have actually never done before. It simply consists of covering your stamp block with ink and using it to stamp your card. I used a wavy stamp block to create more interest and only 3/4 of it. I stamped the outline of the peony and proceeded to watercolour it with Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade distress inks. Make sure you use inks whose colours are complementary to your background ink, as the new inks will blend a little with the inks already in the background

I coloured the edges by rubbing the distress ink cubes directly along my borders and finished the card with a few splatters of Evergreen Bough distress ink & a few drops of Goosebumps textured spray to resemble water drops. As I didn’t have any appropriate stamps for the sentiment, I just hand wrote it in.

As promised the video showing how I water-coloured this card using only distress inks. I hope you enjoyed it and I look forward to hearing your comments. Please do pop over to Addicted to Stamps and More & leave my team mates some love too!

Thanks for dropping by and Have a great day!
