The Sisterhood of Crafters – Animal crackers + video tutorial

sisterhood

I’m back again today to inspire you to join us at our challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters where our sistah Terri has chosen to put Animals in the focus of our creations. You have until Sunday June 17th to link up your animal themed cards so you have plenty of time to join in the fun!

I was happy to be forced given the chance to use my critter stamps, of which I recently ordered quite a few because I told myself I should do more cute cards. Cute cards are not easy for me as I cannot rely on just colouring or stamping the images to make a nice card. These little creatures need a whole eco system to thrive on so I have to create a little world for them, which does not come naturally to me. Surprisingly though, the idea for today’s card just gushed into into my head when I decided to use a new technique I learnt recently through the CAS Mix up challenge blog, which is using rubber bands!

In the card I made for their challenge, I noticed that the rubber bands created seaweed like prints, so I decided to set Terry the turtle, from Clearly Besotted’s “Cool Dude”, free for an afternoon to go swimming in our nearby lake as it’s been so hot here. I made a quick video to show you how I created this underwater scene  but essentially I used a small paint roller and rubber bands!

Terry & his little friends were coloured with Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol markers and I used Ranger distress ink and Altenew ink cube with some water flecks to create the bottom of the lake. The scallop die from My Favorite Things was raised on foam tape and the sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onxy black ink.

As promised here is the video which you can watch here or over on YouTube. I hope you’ll be inspired to create an animal theme card and maybe even give Terry some company by trying out this method and creating an underwater scene too. Do pop over to The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog and see what my “sistahs” have created just for your viewing pleasure and do leave them some love too.

Thanks for popping by and your comments are like little cubes of ice on these hot hot days we’re having here in Germany!

I’m also sharing this over at:
