Hi all! Its the 15th of the month and another challenge starts at the Hero Arts challenge blog “A Blog Named Hero” and the theme is “CAS” meaning clean and simple. So use any Hero Arts products to make a card that’s not fussy and with lots of empty space on the card and link it up at the challenge gallery. You might just be the winner of either a $25 or a $50 gift voucher to the Hero Arts store!
I have to admit that I’m not very good at VERY clean and simple cards. Even though I love seeing CAS cards with just a focal image and lots of space around, to be honest, all that empty space on my own card scares me! 😂 Anyway, I try my best each time. With this card, I had the idea to create a one layer card with one focal image and lots of details in it and I wanted to use the stamps from Hero Arts Mermaid Kisses stamp set.
I started by stamping my three images on my card using Hero Arts soft granite ink and then creating masks for these images, which I placed over them when I started creating the background in the circle with the Spiral Petals stencil. I took a circle metal die and used it as my border. I placed the stencil over the circle die and started dabbing in-between the stencil with Versamark watermark ink pad, which is a clear ink that’s nice and juicy and great for embossing.
I removed the stencil and the die but left the masks on and sprinkled Hero Arts clear sparkle embossing powder over it and heat set it with an embossing tool. I then sponged in Tide Pool ink, followed by Deep Ocean ink around the edges. I removed the masks and watercoloured in the little images using Daniel Smith watercolour dot palette. To add more shine cause there just wasn’t enough 😉 I used my silver gel roller to add more detail on the little mermaid.
I stamped the sentiment using black ink and once it was dry, I added some blue glimmer metallic inks around certain words to create a link with the image. And to finish I just couldn’t resist adding some paint splatters with liquid watercolours from Hero Arts too.
Well, I hope you liked my card and are inspired to create a clean and simple card for our challenge. I look forward to seeing them in the gallery. You have till the 10th of May to join in so plenty of time to make lots of them!
Thanks for stopping by and do pop over to the challenge post and see what my teammates made just to inspire you too. Have a great crafty day!
